Electronic Toys
Electronic toys have come along way in the past twenty years, from simple handheld sports games to the advanced video games kids experience today. Also included under this category include remote control cars and interactive electronic games.
Electronic toys—particularly video games—tend to be some of the most popular among older children. It is very common for a kid to ask for the latest video game or video game console. This is not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself. Some video games can encourage hand-eye coordination; others are designed to be educational. Some, such as Wii Fit, are even designed to encourage physical activity.
Of course, no parent wants their child playing video games all day. Video games also tend to be more expensive than other toys. So the decision is yours to make. If you are interested in letting your kids play video games, the games come with a suggested age rating.
Interactive electronic games also exist, which are designed to “communicate” with the child, providing audio encouragement for right answers. There is more information on these interactive toys elsewhere in the site. Remote control cars, boats and airplanes are also popular electronic toys.
